good soil probe is to an irrigation scheduler what a
hammer is to a carpenter: once he's found the right one,
he'll refuse to use anything else. The Lord Probe soil
sampler was designed by Joe Lord to meet the needs of
professionals. Whether you need to take a soil sample
for nutrient analysis, or whether you need to determine
soil moisture content, the Lord Probe is the best tool
for the job.
The Lord Probe soil sampler is designed with the
features needed by people who sample soil for a living.
These features make the probe easier to use which then
makes those long days just a little easier on you. Some
of these features include:
Uniform Shaft Thickness
The shaft of the lord probe soil sampler is 1" thick
from the handle to the tip. There is no shoulder to get
hung up when trying to retrieve the probe from the
ground. The probe simply pulls straight out of the
ground.
Raised Bead on the Tip
OK. The shaft is not entirely uniform in thickness. The
sampling tip of the probe has a raised bead around its
circumference. This raised bead is the key to retrieving
the soil probe easily from ground. That raised bead
creates a hole that is slightly larger than the rest of
the shaft. This ensures that your soil probe will lift
out easily from the ground when retrieving your sample.
Replaceable Tip
Sampling will eventually wear down the raised bead on
the tip. Once that happens, you can simply replace the
tip of the soil probe. Unscrew the old one, add the new
one, and you're off and sampling. With proper care of
your Lord Soil Sampler, this tip may be the only part
you will ever need to replace.
Generous Sample Volume
The Lord Probe soil sampler collects approximately 150
ml of soil at a time.
Molded Depth Markings
The Lord Probe soil sampler is marked every six inches
by a line molded into the shaft. No more magic marker
lines to rub off.
Modular Design
The Lord Probe soil sampler has been designed with
flexibility in mind. In addition to the standard probe
illustrated above, an extension sleeve is available
allowing the probe to be lengthened to a total of five
feet. Ideal for sampling orchards and vineyards.
