What's next...
SJAQD April 21, 2011 Deadline: The District has updated the Rule 4570 pertaining to
reducing VOC emissions. All dairies with 500 or more lactating cows will be required to apply for or update their existing
mitigation measures. The previous application threshold was 1,000 lactating cows. Informational meetings (See flyer.) will be held in March and April 2011. Rule 4570
applications are due by April 21, 2011. You can contact
the District for more information by calling one of their business centers: Modesto - (209) 557-6446; Fresno -
(559) 230-5888; Bakersfield - (661) 392-5665.
Revided RWQCB Monitoring & Reporting Program (MRP) The RWQCB has approved the revisions to the MRP
portion of the Dairy General Order. Some changes include more waste application inspections, sample analysis and a regional
groundwater monitoring program. A copy of the revised MRP can be found on the RWQCB website.
Regulatory Inspections
The RWQCB started inspecting dairies covered under the Dairy General Order in 2009.
It is anticipated that all dairies covered under the Dairy General Order will have a compliance inspection within the next
five years. Recommendations from CDQAP for a successful inspection are to have
your records in order, key personnel should be available during inspection and have knowledge of records, and be polite.
If you would like assistance in getting ready for an inspection, contact Betsy.
